The 3rd Israeli International Tournament was held in Netanya from 13 to 25 May 1964 as the main international section of the traditional Shach-Kayit chess vacation festival. It was held alongside an Israeli squad tournament and an amateur/open section. The event was almost unknown in Western databases for decades, despite the participation of Gideon Ståhlberg and Miroslav Filip. Yair Kraidman scored one of his first major tournament successes, winning with 7½/11 ahead of Filip and Stepak. At least one game, Ståhlberg–Blumenfeld from round 9, was published in Davar and later corrected from Shachmat 1964; other games reportedly appeared in Shachmat 1964. |
