For the second consecutive year we are enjoying a Knockout tournament in the Galgenwaard in Utrecht. The big news in advance: Jan Timman is participating. Unfortunately, he loses out to Erwin l'Ami. The sensation of round 1 is the elimination of Casper Schoppen by young talent Leandro Slagboom. Tiviakov plays great and manages to reach the final through playoffs against l'Ami and Sokolov. Exhausted by the intensive week, he can offer no resistance to Max Warmerdam in top form. Max convincingly wins his second Dutch Championship. Maaike Keetman is playing very well among the women. In the final she defeated 5-time champion Anne Haast by no less than 2-0. It is the first time that Keetman has taken the title. |
