From December 21 to 30, 2022, the Dutch Championship is part of a chess festival; the championship is played according to a knock-out formula. The line-up is strong. The participants include: defending champion Warmerdam and former winners Reinderman, Tiviakov and Lucas van Foreest. Erwin l'Ami, at that time not only a professional chess player but also manager of the Max Euwe Centre, was unbeatable. For the first time in his long and impressive career, L'Ami conquers the Dutch title. In the classical games he reached the final against Robby Kevlishvili with a score of 6 out of 6. Both classical games are drawn, but in the playoff of two rapid games Erwin wins twice again and is therefore the rightful champion. |
