...At the post-match press conference, Kasparov reacted to questions about his performance not being up to scratch, «I was totally out-prepared. Vladimir made some very bold openings and I burned down around Game 8 because I had to spend about ten hours a day on my preparation - 98% of which never worked. I was not out-played but I was out-prepared. Game 14 had a very dramatic effect on me - it was not a very pleasant discovery when I got home and realised that I had been in a winning position.»
