Subject: Kasparov v. Deep Junior on the ICC and Chess.fm
Date: Mon, 27 Jan 2003 15:05:38 -0500 (EST)

You're probably aware of the ongoing match between Gary Kasparov and Deep Junior sponsored by X3D Technologies Corp. Kasparov won yesterday's game. The next game is on Tuesday at 3:30pm EST. (Jan 28, 21:30 GMT).
The Internet Chess Club (www.chessclub.com) and Chess.fm are covering the event. The response so far has been phenomenal. Yesterday we had 2900 people watching the game on ICC, including 250 titled players of which 70 were grandmasters. In addition, Chess.fm provided internet radio coverage with analysis by GM John Fedorowicz, and live reports from the playing site in New York. Listener comments on Fedorowicz's analysis have been uniformly positive. He is truely a natural «chess-caster». «Fed» - who was an advisor to IBM's 1997 Deep Blue team - will continue to provide commentary on Chess.fm throughout the match, and ICC will continue to host live discussions for members and guests, and GM commentary for members.
ICC is the longest-running and most vibrant chess community on the internet, with over ten years of continuous operation. We've been covering major chess events from around the world for years. In 1997, after Kaspparov resigned game 2 in his match against Deep Blue, a collection of players and administrators on ICC analyzed variations late into the night on our chess server. They made major chess news by finding a drawing line that Kasparov missed in the final position.
