Netherlands—England 7½—12½

Revival of the pre-war match series between England and Holland last month was a big success — especially from the British point of view. They won 12½-7½ on the Netherlanders' home ground. The margin was greater than any of the three earlier encounters. Each has won by a mere half point while the 1939 match was a 10-10 stand-off.

Ninth board for England was Gordon T. Crown, not yet eighteen. He has been in serious play only since 1944. Recently he topped his section of the Premier Reserves at Hastings. In the match he played coolly to score a valuable point and a half for his team.
