Tournament Review

The tournament was a small three-player event organized by the Wiener Schachklub during the First World War. Schlechter, Vidmar and Kaufmann played six games against each opponent. Contemporary reports described it simply as a club tournament; only retrospectively was it counted as the eighth Trebitsch tournament. The competition was extremely close, Schlechter winning with 6½ points, only half a point ahead of Vidmar and one point ahead of Kaufmann.
