Tournament Review

Anish Giri is not there because he is participating in a FIDE Grand Prix tournament. This gives others the opportunity to claim the honours. Previous winners Ivan Sokolov and Jan Smeets were not able to benefit; it is Dimitri Reinderman and the lowest-rated player Wouter Spoelman who are at the top after seven rounds. Reinderman proves to be the most skilled in the rapid playoff and is therefore the surprising new champion.
