Favourites
suffered in round two
The higher
rated teams won again their matches, but this time
some of them (NAO , Polonia Plus GSM) with a
narrow margin . Especially NAO suffered a lot and
managed to win the match thanks to Vallejo who
saved a very dubious position. «Fortes fortuna
iuvat» as would say old Romans. All russian teams
confirmed their reputation with convincing
victories , Ural and Tomsk-400 took even a lead on
individual points by making a maximal profit from
a good pairing . There are still 10 teams with
perfect score and they will play each other
tomorrow, where the overall attention will be
focussed on match number one between NAO and
Polonia.A few words about the home team who scored
its first victory with nice wins from Arlandi and
two teenagers Brunello and Vocaturo. This will
certainly offer a lot of pleasure to their
numerous «tifosi» all over the Italy
!
Before saying
anything about the womens tournament we would like
first to apologize to the AVS team for our
mistaken comment after round one due to the wrong
result we were given for the board number four.
Such things do happen when You have to collect
results manually and in a great hurry
.
Big fight and
interesting games in first two matches. The last
year champions from Tbilisi managed to draw
against AVS team in spite of a clear rating
difference in latters favour . The hero of the
match was IM Lomineishvili who defeated GM
Stefanova (actual world champion) on board number
one.
Only two teams
still have a perfect score, Platina who won today
against much higher rated team of Southern Ural
and MTK Budapest who was very efficient against
weaker opponents in first two rounds . They meet
tomorrow and an eventual winner will take a soul
lead . Today there were much more decided games
and we hope that this trend will continue
.

GAMES
AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOADING (AND OUR
APOLOGIES...)
As you
probably have already noticed, the paper version
of this bulletin contains only a limited selection
of the overall games. This is due to space limits.
However we are working to provide you every day a
complete electronic copy of the games in the
official web site (http://www.scacchivda.com/).
At present some games are either incomplete or
missing due to problems of readability and time
limits: please excuse us for the inconvenience and
be patient for the necessary corrections. At least
one blunder must be immediately corrected here:
the game Tomezack-Cvitan was actually a draw, and
not a black win as originally reported. There was
also a wrong comment concerning match nr. 1 due to
the wrong result on board four.
We
greatly appreciate your feedbacks when you
encounter errors in the
bulletin!
