World School TeamsThe World School Team Chess Championship is a newly created event aiming at promotion of youth and scholastic chess. It is an annual contest held in three age categories (U16, U14 and U12) and every World's school team has right to participate. Each national federation may enter an unlimited number of school teams in each age category. The team composition is four pupils (plus one reserve) from the same school; any combination of boys and girls is possible. Winning team in each category receives the honorary title of "The FIDE World School Team Champions" for respective year. An extra bonus for the winners is that FIDE awards the title of FIDE Candidate Master to each player of the winning team, subject to the individual achieving 50% from games played.

The first World School Teams took part in Turkey. There weren't much foreign teams there; the event was very successful anyway. Teams from India, Russia and Turkey won in respective age categories. This year the championship is due in Pardubice, Czech Republic as a part of the annual chess festival.
